Overview

BEA Falcon EX combines the Falcon / FalconXL microwave activation sensors with an explosion-proof / flame-proof housing eliminating the spark and arc risk found within hazardous environments including mining, chemical manufacturing, petroleum refining and agriculture.

The explosion-proof / flame-proof housing is a NEMA 4X, 7, 9 rated enclosure designed as an IP66 housing. This housing achieves UL Class I / Division I, Groups B, C, D; UL Class II, Groups E, F, G and UL Class III**

Description

The Falcon EX is an intrinsically safe* uni- and bi-directional motion sensor optimizing the performance of automatic doors in an explosion-proof enclosure. The Falcon EX detects moving objects and can reject pedestrian traffic and parallel traffic. By detecting vehicles and rejecting parallel traffic, the Falcon EX reduces door cycling and helps save energy.

The Falcon EX can be mounted from 138 to 276 inches (11.5 ft x 23 ft) to fit any industrial application. For lower mounting heights, BEA® Falcon EX XL can be mounted from 84 to 138 inches (7 ft x 11.5 ft).

I.S. is a protection concept based around limiting the available electrical energy to non-incendive levels so that sparks cannot occur from short circuit or failures which could cause an explosive atmosphere to ignite.
