I'm designing a Murphy Door bookcase to cover a hidden space, would this be the type of lock I should use, and how does it unlock? I'd like to have a book when placed on the shelf in a certain spot....unlocks the swinging bookcase.

The 290 electronic cabinet lock is typically used on small cabinet doors & drawers. For full-sized man doors or large Murphy Doors we would typically recommend a 600lb (or greater) magnetic lock. The 290 is an Electronic Cabinet lock that must be hard-wired to some type of electronic control device (keypad, card reader, button, etc) and low-voltage power supply. When the control device is activated it would then switch the low-voltage power to the lock allowing it to release.
