Yes, using the included mechanical key override you can leave the lock in an "unlocked" state for free entry and exit.
Question:
What would happen if i connected a 9v battery instead of the 4 AA batteries

The operatational range of the locking component is 4.5 V to 6.0 V. The manufacturing specifications call for 4 AA bateries (1.5 V x 4 = 6.0 V). The output of the 9 V exceeds the manufacturers operational range. We posed your question to our engineering team. While the operational range has some flexibility to handle voltage above the 6.0 V ceiling +10%. The locking components are not rated and have not been testing above the 10% variance. We would not recommend powering the locking components with a 9 V battery.
Question:
How much current does it use?

Posted by on Sunday 6th of November 2011The four AA batteries will power the hotel lock at operational levels through 15,000 locking cycles. Given a typical use pattern of 15 cycles per day under medium to heavy use, the lock will remain powered for 1,000 days (2.7 years)

Posted by on Sunday 6th of November 2011The MC-HCL1 hotel lock operates on 4 standard AA (1.5 V) alkaline batteries producing a combined 6 Volts. The operational range of the lock is 4 V to 6 V. As such, under normal to heavy use (15 to 20 open / close cycles per day) the lock batteries will operate for over 1 year. Average performance is 24 months.
Question:
I also have 3 lobby doors with panic bars, is there a module compatable with the MC-HCL1 for them also? Thank you,
